Since inception in 1991, Vivekananda Institute of Biotechnology, a branch unit of Sri Ramkrishna Ashram, Nimpith, engaged in development, innovation, modulation and adaptation of appropriate modern rural technology and transferring it to the farmers / people through awareness & motivation, education & training, research & demonstration, adaptability & entrepreneurship.

Swami Vivekananda realized that education can eradicate destitution of the masses. His hope education, education, education alone! His dream of future India has not come true as yet. So, VIB has try to establish a PG Diploma Course on Biofertilizer Technology under the University of Burdwan for the unemployed youth in future who become the Entrepreneur with skilled scientific knowledge. On the other hand, Graduate and Post Graduate students from various Universities and colleges come to VIB for academic and research purpose.

CAPART entrusted VIB as Technology Resource Centre (TRC) for Sundarbans area. Burdwan University of West Bengal has recognized VIB to be the Post Graduate Research Laboratory. This Institute has eight units viz. Biofertilizer, Vermicompost, Bio & Botanical Pesticide, Soil Science, Mushroom, Plant Tissue Culture, Aquaculture and Rural Green Energy and also three centres for Research and Demonstration (R&D) activities. VIB is also registered as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization of DSIR, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.

  7. Learning through Attachment (LOA) for M.Sc. degree in Agriculture Biotechnology.
